about
Composer/filmmaker Christina Vantzou brings her supernatural expression to a mash-up remix of LEYA's "Mary" and "ABBA," two tracks from their acclaimed 2020 album Flood Dream. Vantzou's way of weaving source material into something more expansive yet foundational takes different forms: the vocals are smoothed into an ominous sort of call, violins repeat a short phrase briefly. But the track is anchored by the reimagined center of Flood Dream's final harp part; Vantzou uses the same sense of finality as a form of remembrance, a new beginning where the original might have ended.

Muted, greyscale ambient that aptly mimics the introspective calm and leaden stillness of winter. Hushed pads rise and curl like frosted mists, brittle rhythmic elements crunch and crack, and there's a resigned sense of solitude that permeates every second. This isn't quite as vibey and whimsical as "Only Love From Now On," but it's still a worthy addition to Villain's growing discography. PannionSeer
